You can watch the original Nosferatu movie for free before Bill Skarsgård’s remake

One of the most anticipated horror films of the year is coming to us very soon, as Robert Eggers’ Nosferatu, starring Bill Skarsgård as the title character, hits theaters on Christmas Day. This film has been a long time coming, as the director was behind “The Witch” and “The Northman” (Find out where these films are in Robert Eggers’ rating) promising to put his stamp on this horror classic for some time. To that end, for those who haven’t seen the original 1922 film “Nosferatu,” also known as “Nosferatu: A Symphony of Horror,” now is the perfect time to do so. Most importantly, those who want to watch it can currently do so for free.

more than 100 years ago, F.W. Murnau’s “Nosferatu” helped define vampire cinema.. It’s one of the most important and influential horror films ever made, so it’s reasonable to say it’s also worth watching before seeing Eggers’ take on the material. Fortunately, it only takes a few clicks of a button, with no need to take out your old credit card or sign up for anything to check in the meantime.

The endless series of services that hardcore movie fans need to sign up for just to keep up is exhausting. Fortunately, especially for fans of classic cinema, there are plenty of free options available. There have been many, many takes on the Dracula legend in the more than 100 years since this film was released. The vampire genre has also seen quite a few attempts at reinvention, with films like “From Dusk Till Dawn” takes things in a completely different direction. All this to say, Eggers has a deck of cards stacked when it comes to delivering another satisfying reinvention of the Dracula myth. But if any modern filmmaker working in horror today can do it, it’s him.

Eggers’ “Nosferatu” also stars an all-star cast including Nicholas Hoult (“Mad Max: Fury Road”), Lily-Rose Depp (“The Idol”), Aaron Taylor-Johnson (“Kraven the Hunter”) and Emma Corrin.
