Grok, the AI assistant that for some reason was integrated into X, is now available as Standalone application. Like the version that exists as a tab on the social media platform, the Grok app can be used to create images, summarize text and answer questions, in a conversational tone that xAI, the creator of the artificial intelligence assistant, describes as “humorous and engaging.”
The app was first tested with a limited group of users in December 2024, around the same time that X debuted Free layer of Grok This is available to anyone. Before that, you had to pay at least $8 per month for X Premium to get the privilege of using AI.
Free access restrictions – 10 requests every two hours, and three image analysis requests per day – may also apply to the Grok app. You can use the app without signing in, or sign in with your Apple Account, X Account, Google Account, or plain old email. It’s not clear if an X Premium subscription gives you additional benefits in the Grok app in the same way it does for X.
