“So far it feels like it’s vibrating, almost like a massage, kind of.” Those are the words of my colleague, CNET editor Lisa Eadicicco, in reference to the Nike x Hyperice shoes we tried during… Consumer Electronics Show 2025. Think of them as therapeutic recovery shoes or really high top shoes. Shoes that you can adjust to compress your feet and legs more firmly than compression stockings and to warm your tired muscles.
And here’s the catch – you can walk around while they try to work their recovery magic.
“You can definitely feel the heat in here,” Edesiko said as she walked through a demo room in Las Vegas. While the Nike x Hyperice shoes debuted at the Paris Olympics last summer, we took the opportunity to try them out for ourselves, as a preview of more things to come in the space where electronics help with active recovery and not just monitor your vitals.
These battery-powered shoes incorporate compression and heat for both warm-ups and post-workout recovery. Nike says A “system of Normatic dual-air bladders linked to heating elements” distributes heat evenly throughout the shoe, aiming to warm the muscles and tissues in your feet and ankles.

The Nike x Hyperice shoes have a few buttons that allow you to control three different levels of pressure and heat. It massages and compresses your ankles and feet, and from our shoe testing, you can especially feel the heat around your ankles.
It’s hard to know how effective a shoe is as a warm-up or recovery system without testing it over a longer period, but upon first use, these features are definitely noticeable.
The shoes have Velcro straps, which make them soft and comfortable when walking, and currently come in a size range rather than individual sizes – like a men’s size 10 to 12 for example. Nike is working on a consumer version to go on sale, but there’s no word yet on when it will launch or how much it will cost.
Nike is also developing a compression and heat vest as part of a wearable line.
