United Airlines announced that it is integrating Apple’s Share Item Location feature into its mobile app. This development could make it easier to track baggage equipped with AirTags or the Find My network accessory when it somehow ends up in Paris instead of arriving with you in Perth.

The federated integration will allow passengers to send information about their bag’s location directly to company support staff in the mobile app. If a traveler is not using the United app and their bag changes, they will receive a text notification from the airline asking them to submit an item sharing location report.

The Item Sharing Site is part of the Apple site iOS 18.2which just started rolling out this week. When the resource was initially introduced in public beta, it was an air transportation technology company Sita It said it will use the feature in its WorldTracer system to track airline baggage, so this isn’t the first time travel brands have realized the potential of sharing an item’s location. However, it will only be available to customers using an iPhone running at least iOS 18.2.
