Two civil defense workers were killed in Gaza during several Israeli raids News of the Israeli-Palestinian conflict

At least six people were killed and several others were injured in an Israeli raid on a house in Jabalia al-Nazla, north of the Gaza Strip.

Rescue and emergency services said at least two Gaza civil defense personnel were killed in recent Israeli attacks on the Palestinian enclave.

A drone air strike targeting the Civil Defense headquarters in Gaza City on Tuesday led to the death of firefighter Nabil Bahloul and his son.

Another civil defense worker, Najib Saqr, was also martyred as a result of the Israeli forces’ bombing of the Al-Daraj neighborhood in Gaza City.

Ahmed Al-Madhoun, a member of the Civil Defense, said, “We received an emergency pressure message… requesting assistance in extinguishing a fire that broke out as a result of an Israeli air strike on a residential building.”

“We rushed to the scene. On the way, we received a call telling us that the site we were heading to had been bombed again. We went and found dozens dead, including our fellow members of the civil defense team, torn apart.”

Al Jazeera’s correspondent in Gaza, Tariq Abu Azoum, said that the Israeli army’s targeting of civil defense offices in Gaza is on the rise.

He added: “We are talking about 14 centers that were obliterated, along with 56 vehicles, including fire engines and ambulances.”

He added, “Civil defense workers are unable to work effectively in northern Gaza, as their services are witnessing an almost complete collapse due to repeated Israeli attacks on their members on the ground.”

Abu Azoum added that as a result, civilians are bearing their responsibility and coming together to carry out risky rescue operations, including retrieving victims from under the rubble of bombed buildings.

At least six Palestinians were killed and many others were injured in an Israeli raid on a house in the Jabalia al-Nazla area in the northern Gaza Strip, according to Al Jazeera correspondents on the ground. The house belongs to the Abu Wardeh family.

Civil defense officials said that the bodies of the three children were still under the rubble and crews were having difficulty recovering them.

Meanwhile, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu’s office said that Israel’s mid-level ceasefire negotiating team will return to Tel Aviv on Tuesday evening after a “useful week” of talks in Qatar.

In addition, an Israeli military investigation concluded on Tuesday that the presence of Israeli forces inadvertently contributed to the killing of six prisoners by their Hamas captors in Gaza.

The bodies of the prisoners were discovered in a tunnel in late August, an event that sparked some of the largest anti-war protests since the war began.

The investigation concluded that the six prisoners were killed by multiple gunshots from their captors after surviving for approximately 330 days in Gaza.

At least 1,139 people were killed in Israel during the Hamas-led attacks on October 7, 2023, and more than 200 people were captured.
