Türkiye is pressing dozens of people on social media publications on Istanbul’s detained mayor

The Minister of the Interior said on Thursday that Türkiye had detained 37 of the suspects claiming that “provocative positions inciting crime and hatred” due to Istanbul mayor Ikram Emamoglu.

The Turkish authorities have set 261 accounts on social media, including 62 abroad, for “provocative jobs” after Imamoglu and 105 others were detained, and they were continuous efforts to track the remaining suspects.

The minister said that 18.6 million jobs were shared on X about Imamoglu in less than 24 hours after his arrest.

After challenging a temporary ban on the demonstrations, hundreds moved to the streets to support Istanbul Mayor Ikram Emamoglu and protest against the Erdogan government.

The Prosecutor’s Office in Istanbul said that Türkiye also acquired a construction company that has been involved in possessing IMamoglu.

In a statement late on Wednesday, the Public Prosecutor’s Office said that the control of construction, trade and industry had been seized by a court, based on the reports of the investigation of financial crimes.
