Türkiye detained 1,100 demonstrators and many journalists after the arrest of Erdogan’s competitor

Officials said on Monday that Turkish police detained many journalists and more than 1,100 citizens who protested the arrest of Istanbul Mayor Ikram Imamoglu, the main political opponent of President Erdogan. The detention attracted international condemnation and protests have spread to more than 55 provinces from 81 provinces in Türkiye.
