Donald Trump has chosen a commissioner at the US competition watchdog to replace Lina Khan as its new chair.

The president-elect announced Andrew Ferguson as his nominee to chair the Federal Trade Commission, describing him in a post on Truth Social on Tuesday evening as having a “proven record of standing up to Big Tech oversight.”

Before being sworn in as FTC commissioner in April of this year, Ferguson previously served as Virginia’s solicitor general and, before that, as a senior advisor to Republican Senator Mitch McConnell.

“Andrew will be the most ‘America First’ and most pro-innovation FTC Chairman in our country’s history,” Trump wrote.
