The administration of US President Donald Trump said it will cancel the temporary legal status of more than half a million immigrants from Cuba, Haiti, Nicaragua and Venezuela.
These immigrants were warned against leaving the country before canceling the permits and departments of the deportation on April 24, according to a notice published by the federal government.
530,000 migrants were brought to the United States under a care process during the Biden era known as Chnv, which was designed to open legal immigration paths. Trump suspended the program as soon as he took office.
It is not clear that the number of these immigrants who managed to secure another situation in the meantime would allow them to legally stay in the United States.
The program was launched during the era of Democratic President Joe Biden in 2022, which was first covered the Venezuelan before expanding it to other countries.
The migrants and their direct family were allowed to fly to the United States if they have American sponsors and remain for two years under a temporary migration position known as the conditional release.
The Biden Administration has argued that the Chnv would help curb the illegal border crossings on the southern American border and allow a better examination of the country.
On Friday, the Ministry of Internal Security decides the previous administration and said that the program failed in its goals.
The agency’s statement said that Biden officials “gave (migrants) opportunities to compete for American jobs and undermining American workers; forced professional civilians to promote programs even when fraud was determined; then he blamed Republicans in Congress for the chaos that followed and the crime that followed.”
However, the 35 -page notice in the federal registry said that some of the United States under ChNV may be allowed to survive “the basis of each case separately.”
Trump is also studying whether the temporary legal status of the Ukrainian 240,000 who fled to the United States during the conflict with Russia will be canceled.
