Trump descends a “very good” phone call with Zelensky

US President Donald Trump held what he described as a “very good” phone call with his Ukrainian counterpart, Volodimir Zelinsky.

Trump said that writing on his social media platform was aimed at aligning Ukraine and Russia “in terms of their requests and needs,” adding that the shooting efforts were on the right track.

Zelensky and Russian President Vladimir Putin said they would agree to stop the attacks on energy infrastructure. However, the two sides have since accused each other of continuous attacks.

Trump is searching for a wider truce, but in a phone call with him on Tuesday, Putin refused an immediate ceasefire for 30 days on the ground, air and sea backed by the United States and Ukraine.

Meanwhile, Kyiv and Moscow exchanged prisoners. Each side issued 175 prisoners of war.

Zelinski described the swap as “one of the largest”, adding that Russia included 22 additional soldiers “wounded”.

Trump said that on Wednesday’s invitation with Zelinski lasted for about an hour.

“A lot of discussion was based on the call that takes place yesterday with President Putin in order to align both Russia and Ukraine in terms of their requests and needs,” he wrote in social fact.

“We are on the right track,” he added.

Later Marco Rubio, Mark Rubio, issued a more detailed statement, saying that Trump agreed to help additional air defense systems for Ukraine, especially in Europe.

Rubio added that the technical teams meet in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia in the coming days to discuss the expansion of the ceasefire to the Black Sea, saying that they agreed that this is the first step towards ending the full war.

Rubio said Trump also offered us an help in managing the power stations in Ukraine, adding that US ownership would be “the best protection” of energy infrastructure in Ukraine.

Zelensky also commented, describing the conversation as “positive”, “Frank” and “very essential”.

“We agreed that Ukraine and the United States must continue to work together to achieve a real end of war and permanent peace,” he said.

Trump spoke to Putin for two hours over the phone on Tuesday, when the Russian leader agreed to stop the attacks on the energy infrastructure.

But he said that the full ceasefire would only work if Ukraine’s allies stop providing military assistance – a case that Ukraine allies rejected before.

Hours later, Ukraine and Russia launched attacks, as Kiev said that hospitals had been targeted.

Officials in the southern Russian region of Krasnodar said that the Ukrainian drone attack lit a small fire in the oil depot.
