Here’s what happened to the 80-year-old grandmother with her Sleep Number bed

According to Daily MailOn March 1, 2023, Walker was left pinned between her bed and her bedroom wall. Sleep Number’s bed “came down on its own without warning,” according to the outlet.

On March 3, 2023, emergency responders were able to free Walker from the bed. Then she was taken to the hospital. per New York PostWalker was treated for unspecified injuries and then transferred to a rehabilitation clinic. Eventually, the 80-year-old woman was placed in a nursing home at her home.

Then, on April 3, 2023, Walker died.

Here’s what Rosalind Walker’s family is seeking to file a lawsuit over

According to Daily MailWalker’s daughter, Angela Moan, filed a lawsuit against Sleep Number and its manufacturer, Leggett & Platt. Anin confirms that her mother “suffered all the time” until her death.

Furthermore, Moan is reportedly seeking compensation for the injuries sustained by her mother. Additionally, she is seeking compensation for “medical bills in excess of $25,000.”

The lawsuit reportedly alleges that Sleep Number “designed and sold a bed that did not contain sufficient instructions or warning language to alert Ms. Walker not to move between the bed and the wall because she may become trapped.” Additionally, the lawsuit asserts that the Sleep Number bed “did not have a proper release mechanism that would have allowed Ms. Walker to free herself.”

“This negligence was the direct cause of Ms. Walker’s injuries, suffering, and death,” the lawsuit asserts.

per Daily MailA company spokesperson confirmed that it “will not comment on pending litigation.” However, New York Post I posted a quote from the quoted spokesperson which reads:

“The lawsuit alleges that a malfunctioning adjustable base purchased in 2014 was a contributing factor in the death of Rosalind Walker. We are aware that this incident occurred in March 2023; we were notified of the alleged incident after the lawsuit was filed yesterday, December 10. We extend our deepest condolences to Mrs. Walker for their tragic loss.
