The company announced on Thursday that Tiktok is cooperating with the National Center for missing children and exploiters (NCMEC) to bring amber alerts in actual time directly to users for you in the United States.
Through this new feature, if the amber alert is activated by applying the law while you are in the specified search area, the alert will now appear in your summary. A company spokesman Techcrunch that Tiktok determines whether users are in a specific search through their device’s IP address.
The alert will include the main details available in standard amber alerts, such as a child’s image, description, another known location, and any other important information that can help in search.
Tiktok says that ALERTS launch at the country’s level is a pilot in Texas, where amber alerts were seen on Tiktok more than 20 million times, and led to 2.5 million visits to NCMEC between August and 2024.

The company says it also donates advertising credits to amplify NCMEC messages on Tiktok about young and missing safety information.
It makes sense for Tiktok to provide amber alerts within the application, because the base of the huge platform users for adolescents may be more likely to notice these alerts of traditional notifications that may tend to overlook.
“Every second is concerned when the child loses,” said Javin Portnoy, Vice President of Communications & Brand at NCMEC. “By harnessing the arrival and speed of a platform like Tiktok, parents, care providers and societies can become strong advocates of the urgent effort to determine the location of missing children.”
Tiktok is not the only social network to merge amber alerts into its platform. Facebook I have pushed amber alerts to users since 2016, and Instagram I did it since 2022.
