Every morning, millions wake up in India and reach a cup of bed tea – a ritual that has gone through generations, which are seen as comfortable, and even necessary. But according to the biochemical and iitian manish bhagwani, this simple act may harm more than help.

“Why does the concept of morning bed tea need to move away from India? I don’t know why you are comrades for that?” He writes.

The following is a sharp end of the habit that many do not doubt – but perhaps it should.

“This bad habit will find inverse results because you do not understand your body’s metabolism,” he warns Haguwani. An area rooted in how to prepare the body at dawn.

“Before you wake up, your body naturally increases the production of cortisol,” explains. “This increase in cortisol increases glucose in the blood and with the increase in glucose some insulin comes in your body as well.”

He explains that this is a natural and useful process – it gives you energy to start your day. But if you deal with obesity or belly fat, the insulin glucose response may be exaggerated.

“If you have obesity or just obesity in the abdomen … you may have insulin resistance … more than 50 % of the urban Indians now have insulin resistance,” he said.

It urges people to track the levels of HOMA-Yer-calculated mark by hitting insulin fasting (MIU/L) with the percentage of fasting glucose (mg/dl), then dividing it by 405. “If the value is higher than 1.8, then you suffer from clinical insulin resistance.”

During the night, your muscles and liver glycogen turned into glucose, while maintaining the blood sugar level fixed. “By the time you wake up, both brain cells, muscle cells and tissue cells still feed well.”

So what do they really need in the morning? “Movement”, Bahajwani says. “When you exercise, the consumption of your glucose muscles increases … which makes them sensitive to insulin.”

“After 30-60 minutes of moderate exercises makes your body change the energy source from glycogen to burning fat. It is blessings this afternoon.”

But what does morning bed tea do? “It puts a comment on this entire process. Raise the glucose sugar in the blood and then insulin … which makes you look forward to more sugar soon and then be part of a vicious cycle.”

His ruling is direct: “The science is clear. You do not need tea/coffee when waking up. You need water, you need movement.”
