Virgil van Dick says there is progress in his talks with Liverpool on a new contract.

The current Netherland International deal ends at the end of the season, as well as those that link Trent Alexander Arnold and Mohamed Salah.

While Alexander-Arnold is expected to move to Real Madrid in a free transfer, Van Dyck and Sleel have made it clear that they want to stay in Anfield.

Speaking last month, Van Digik said that he “has no idea” if he will remain in the club but he provided a more positive rating for how things go when talking after that Yesterday 3-2 defeat in Fulham.

He told reporters: “There is progress, yes.

“I don’t know (if I will stay), we’ll see. Listen, these are internal discussions and we will see.”

Liverpool fans are desperate to keep the Reds captain

Liverpool fans were explicit in their desire to stay in Van Dick and a weapon, and former half Celtic and Southampton says that admiration is mutual.

“I love the club, I love the fans and they were there for us again and we wanted to reward them,” he said.

“But I want them to be there on Sunday again (at home to West Ham United) and make the stadium a great place like us.”

Fulham’s show was “unacceptable” – Van Dick

Liverpool suffered from its first defeat on the Premier League road this season in Cravin Koch, where Van Digk seemed unusual.

They still sit 11 clear points at the top of the Premier League, and they remain firmly in the path to lift the cup.

“It was a poor day in the office to all of us,” Van Dick, 33, added.

There were individual moments that should have been dealt with better. It was not acceptable as a team.

“The first half, we scored a great goal, but we allowed them to return to the game with a review of ourselves and these things should not happen.

“The second half clearly went one, we were trying as soon as possible to get the second goal, we underwent the risks much more. We tried to change it but unfortunately we could not do this.

“In the first half, you cannot argue with the result. We took it on the chin and try to overcome West Ham next week.”
