A US official said that Donald Trump and Vladimir Putin are scheduled to comment on an invitation about the Russia-Ukraine war next week.

He said: “I expect that there will be an invitation with both presidents this week, and we also continue to participate and have a conversation with the Ukrainians.”

Comments come after the United States and G7 partners on Friday to caution Moscow can expand sanctions and use frozen Russian assets to support Ukraine, as Trump is seeking to beat Putin for a ceasefire.
