Captain Seerhi Mosica, who started his career in the Soviet army, never dreamed of his final publication before heading to retirement 43 years after a helicopter will play like Tom Cruise.
The 60 -year -old ended in a terrifying and deadly position in southern Sudan when what appeared to be a routine of the United Nations earlier this month to his most career.
During his military service – which included 20 years in the Ukrainian army – served in Afghanistan and other dangerous places. He also faced other areas of danger during his work as a private contractor, including saving victims of a plane crash in Somalia in 2015.
But the task necessary to evacuate the wounded soldiers from a military base in Nasser in the state of Nile in the northern southern Sudan is the most unforgettable.
The shooting at the base ended after they arrived to demand the lives of a crew and more than twenty southern Sudan soldiers on the ground.
He himself was shot in his arm, and miraculously managed to raise and direct the damaged helicopter to safety.
A small clip showed that he photographed on his phone from inside the cockpit he bloody, and the nearby controls were covered with blood and the windshield was shattered while he and his shared theaters were long on Scrubland for about an hour to the nearest airport.
It was “like a movie”, he confessed to the BBC – it is clear that it was still shaking by the events.
“I believed that this happened in a dream,” added the pilot, who worked for a company called Ukrainian helicopters.
On the day of the shooting, the company was contracted by the United Nations mission in South Sudan to evacuate six injured soldiers, one of whom is a general, along with two of its negotiating.
The United Nations peacekeepers are trying to protect a peace deal that gives up the edges, with Warnings of the latest country in the world are about to decline in another civil war.
The first to get erupted three years after independence of independence is five years, and nearly 400,000 people were killed.
President Salva Kiir incited Vice President Rick Maher – with every support from their ethnic groups.
The couple agreed to end the war in 2018 – one of the goals of the Power Participation deal was to join their competing forces and establish a unified army.

But the recent clashes in Nasser Province reveal the lack of confidence in the slow progress in this matter.
The area is where there is a militia, known as the White Army, – its recruits fought to support Machar during the civil war.
Societies there do not trust the regular army forces that are seen as loyal to Kiir and called for the spread of the unified force.
But last month, more regular army soldiers were sent to the area – a step that Machar said was a violation of the ceasefire and the transitional deal – and tensions.
The Kiir team said that the decision was a routine rotation of the forces, but the situation was deteriorating quickly when the White Army seized the army base on March 4.
That is when Captain Mouzika and his team were called to the besieged soldiers.
They have already made one trip – on March 6 – 10 people were successfully extracted after landing at a specific point for use of the United Nations.
The next day they returned – and everything was going according to the plan until the passengers began to climb.
The shooting began and in confusion was difficult to know what was going on.
Captain Mozika I knew the first that there was a mistake seriously when he saw blood from his left arm.
Then the host of his trip was shot Sergey Braijdo – who was standing in front of the chief negotiator of the United Nations.
Captain Mozika knew that they were being attacked and kicked his military training: “The shooting began from the front and the right and then from the left back. I immediately decided to take off.”
And while he was raised, he said that he saw the soldiers falling on the ground outside the plane.
“I couldn’t say exactly the time we spent (between the start of the shooting and take off) – perhaps a small part of a second.”
The helicopter frame continued to hit it when it became air -and -air, the fuel tanks were punctured.
They needed to reach the airport in the regional capital, Malakal, which was an hour away, and things did not look good in the cockpit.
“Some systems were damaged – like the main gearbox,” he said.
The possibility of collapse was present during the trip. So Captain Mozica decided to fly as quickly as possible.
“The oil temperature (in) was critical – the maximum, and fly 100 (328 feet) above the ground level.”
In this way, according to his accounts, he can perform an emergency decline within 20 seconds.
He also asked his crew to be looking for purification operations – free of trees and shrubs – only if one of them is needed.
Meanwhile, the flight engineer stopped the bleeding on the captain’s arm using his shirt as a shirt.
In the video, the torn shirt can be seen tied over the attachment – the blood was on its lower arm, pants and consistent from his seat.
The shots also show a line of blood clotting on his forehead before he was placed in the crew of the shirt and the co -pilot, who was also suffering from injury.
Captain Mosica said he was suffering from pain on his right side.
“Fortunately, a small injury was from plastic fragments of the right window.”
As they finally approached Malakal Airport, they faced more difficulty. The front wheel of the helicopter was banned after it was beaten during the attack.
However, Captain Mozica managed to successfully land 49 minutes after taking off under the fire and with more than 20 holes of her body columns.
“It was a great relief,” he told the BBC.
At that point, he felt some pain from his injury. It was very surrealist thought “Maybe I sleep.”

During his time as a military pilot, he said that he was attacked only once – in Afghanistan in 1987: “I saw a couple of bullets that came through my blades during a night trip. This is all.”
The crew and passengers gave medical attention as soon as they arrived at Malakal.
However, it was not possible to save Mr. Brejudco, 41, who died of his wounds.
The captain said: “We could not believe that.”
Later, the Ukrainian helicopter crew was recruited at a ceremony in which the honorary medal was awarded to the United Nations. The head of the United Nations mission said the attack “may constitute a war crime under international law.”
It was difficult for the crew to accept the loss of their colleague – and all the incident added to their fears of relatives in the homeland who were attacked by the Russian forces.
Captain Mozica is now returned to Ukraine to receive treatment and see his family.
He hopes in the future that “sound logic will prevail in the world”, and while he knows that retirement on cards, he still feels young “because I can fly.”
