A small plane crashed into a road in Sao Paulo, Brazil, at approximately 7:20 am local time, killing both people on board and wounding many people on the ground, according to the city’s fire extinguishing department.

Six people were slightly injured and were not serious. One of them was a motorcycle driver who was passing. The other five were passengers on a bus with a part of the plane, according to Captain Ronaldo Milo, a spokesman for the firefighting fire department at Sao Paulo.

Captain Milo said that the firefighters arrived at the scene before 7:30 am, when they found the plane and the bus on the fire. He added: “The fire was very aggressive.” He said that bus passengers had escaped from the car before the fire started.

Social media videos showed the remains of the plane in fire, as well as a large black column of smoke in the air.

It is not clear the cause of the accident, but it seems that the plane has been crashed shortly after taking off. Avenida Marques de São Vicente, a major road in the Barra Funda neighborhood, has struck about four miles from the Campo de Marte airport, where the plane took off.

The plane was on its way to Porto Alegre, about 700 miles south of Sao Paulo.

Captain Milo said that after about three hours of the accident, the firefighting administration left the scene.
