American and global economic growth is scheduled to be less than expected, according to the latest estimates by the Organization for Economic Cooperation and Development.
“It is expected that global GDP growth will extend from 3.2 % in 2024, to 3.1 % in 2025 and 3.0 % in 2026, with commercial barriers increasing in many G20 economies and increasing geopolitical and politicians in investment and home spending,” OECD said on Monday in economic reports.
“The growth of the annual GDP in the United States is expected to slow from its last strong, 2.2 % in 2025 and 1.6 % in 2026.”
In its previous expectations, which were published in December, the Organization for Economic Cooperation and Development estimated 3.3 % of global economic growth this year and microde. The US economy was expected to grow by 2.4 % in 2025 and 2.1 % in 2026.
The Organization for Economic Cooperation and Development said that its latest expectations “are based on the assumption that the bilateral definitions between Canada and the United States and between Mexico and the United States are increasing by 25 additional percentage points on almost all goods from April.”
The report pointed out that the increases in customs tariffs were less, or applied to fewer goods, the economic activity will be stronger and inflation will be less than expected, “but global growth will remain weaker than expected.”
