The government of Uttar Pradesh is said to hold talks with the iPhone Foxconn manufacturer to establish a new facility in the Greater Noida region.
According to the sources, government officials and representatives of the Taiwanese company have already held two rounds of meetings in Delhi and Locoao in the proposed project. The new facility is likely to focus on making mobile phones.
The Greater Noida facility will add to the company, the largest Apple contract manufacturer in the world, a base in the country.
The establishment of the facility is proposed on an area of 300 acres of land. Sources said that Foxconn will be in addition to a 50 -acre joint project with Foxconn with HCL to collect and test semiconductors using external sources. Meanwhile, the reports received earlier in the year indicated that HCL-FOXCONN Consical Venture, separated from this new factory, has started talks with Larsen & Toubro (L & T) as well as the Taiwanese CTCI to collect semiconductors and test them (OSAT). JV is also awaiting the approval of the Council of Ministers. Foxconn is said to invest $ 37.2 million to carry a 40 percent stake in the project.
The new facility is expected to create 40,000 jobs and will include housing for all workers within the complex.
The sources added that the UP government was interested in the project, as the Noida-Great Noida is already represented by approximately 50 percent of all mobile phone exports from the country.
The sources added: “There is no better place than getting Apple.
Foxconn started manufacturing iPhone 15 at the Tamil Nadu facility at SriperumBudur in 2023. The company pressed the Indian airport authorities to reduce the time required to remove customs at Chennai Airport from 30 hours to six hours.
