Public Prosecutor Pam Bondi She said on Tuesday that she ordered federal prosecutors to seek the death penalty against Luigi Mangion Regarding December slaughter to UNITEDHEALTHCARE CEO Brian Thompson in New York City.
Bondi said in a statement issued by a file Ministry of Justice.
“After looking carefully, I directed the federal prosecutors to obtain the death penalty in this case, as we carry out President Trump’s agenda to stop violent crime and make America safe again,” the prosecutor said.
Mangeion, a graduate of the University of Pennsylvania, is tried at the US Boycott Court in Manhattan for federal crimes, including killing, chase, and a fiery charge, related to the killing of Thompson outside the Hilton Hotel in the center of Manhattan on December 4.
Thompson, whose company is the largest motivation for health insurance benefits in the United States, went to the hotel to attend an investor meeting for his father, UNITEDHELHELTH Group.
“The killing of Thompson was a act of political violence,” the Ministry of Justice said in its statement on Tuesday.
“The actions of manganese involve significant planning and major planning, and because the crime that occurred in public places with nearby passers -by, may have pose a major risk to the death of additional people,” the statement said.
Mangeion, 26, faces criminal charges of state in the Manhattan Supreme Court, a trial court.
