Dan Norris, the labor deputy and mayor of West England, was arrested on suspicion of sexual and rape crimes.

The Labor Party said that he had arrested a deputy from the northeastern Somers and Hanham on Saturday after he learned of his arrest.

Avon and Sumrest police said that a man had been arrested in his sixties on Friday and was released since then on a conditional guarantee.

The force said in a statement: “In December 2024, we received a referral from another police force related to the sexual crimes of the alleged unnecessary for a girl.

The statement added that the investigation, led by the investigation team in the sexual assault, led by rape and sexual assault, “at an early stage”, according to the Press Society. “The victim is supported and access to any specialized assistance or support you need.”

A Labor Party spokesman said: “Dan Norris, deputy immediately by the Labor Party, was suspended when he was informed of his arrest.”

The party said it could not be more suspected while investigating the police. Nuris lost the parliamentary whip, according to people familiar with the matter.

Norris was first elected in the House of Commons, the position of deputy for Wansdyke, Sumrest, in 1997, and this electoral district served for 13 years before losing the seat in 2010. He was appointed Minister of Rural Affairs by Gordon Brown during the Prime Minister.

In 2021, he was elected west of the mayor of England, before returning to Parliament in the Somersrest Circle in the general elections last July.

His arrest was first reported by the sun on Sunday.

Norris did not immediately respond to the request for comment.
