And now for something completely different. Naughty Dog moves from indie post-apocalyptic drama to interstellar sci-fi bounty hunting with its latest game, Intergalactic: Heretic Prophet. The studio revealed its new title with a cinematic trailer at The Game Awards on Thursday.
Intergalactic: Heretic Prophet The film takes place thousands of years in the future and stars bounty hunter Jordan A. Moon Chilling Adventures of Sabrina Actor Tati Gabriel. Jordan finds herself stranded on the planet Symperia, which has been isolated from the rest of the universe for more than 600 years. She’s on a mission to escape Sempiria, but it looks like some evil robots are going to get in her way.
The trailer is great, even if it’s just in-game cinematics. It shows shimmering galaxies and Jordan being sassy with her bosses in a Porsche spaceship, all ready to belt out lo-fi tunes and upbeat 80s tunes. Once the camera reaches planet level, there is a huge multi-armed robot holding a glowing red sword. Jordan draws her weapon and the fight continues.
This is the start of a new IP for Naughty Dog – it’s the studio’s first game that isn’t Uncharted or The Last of Us since 2005. Game director and Naughty Dog studio head Neil Druckmann shared more information about the game’s story on… PlayStation Blog:
“What we can tell you is that this game lives up to Naughty Dog’s tradition of creating an emotional, character-driven journey. Our narrative goals are rivaled only by our gameplay ambitions. This will be the deepest gameplay in Naughty Dog’s history, taking what we’ve learned from “Our previous privileges and push them beyond anything we’ve done before.”
Soundtrack for Intergalactic: Heretic Prophet He’s handled by Trent Reznor and Atticus Ross (at least when it’s not literally just Pet Shop Boys).
