Cairo Six tourists died on Thursday when a tourist submarine drowned outside the Horgada resort on the Red Sea coast in Egypt, government media reported. The state -owned news newspaper, Akhbar Al -Youm, said that all the deceased are foreigners, adding that 19 others were injured.
Investigations were underway to determine the cause of the accident, according to the newspaper, who said that the injured were transferred to nearby hospitals alongside the dead bodies.
Horgada, a crowded tourist city about 285 miles southeast of the Egyptian capital, Cairo, is a major destination for visitors to Egypt.
Coral reefs and carrots in the Red Sea are considered off the eastern coast of Egypt, as they contribute to the country’s vital tourism sector, which employs two million people and generates more than 10 percent of GDP.
