Her family announced that Mia Loew, the first member of the American Black Republican Congress, has died at the age of 49 in Utah.
She died in peace on Sunday, surrounded by the family at her home in Saratoga Springs, a statement said.

Her daughter, Abijl, said earlier this month that love no longer responded to the treatment of brain cancer.
