Toronto Blue Jays Pitcher Kevin Guzman took a shot at MLB Commissioner Rob Manfred on Tuesday while the baseball president was talking about marketing the sport through rookie pitchers.
Guzman implored his followers not to believe what Manfred said about starting the promotion.

Guzman’s dose came weeks after the possibility of implementation “Golden Bat” base.which would allow teams to select one hitter per game to bat against even if they were not next in the batting order, was introduced in the baseball world.
Manfred spoke as part of the Questions for Cancer podcast. He said he doesn’t think a minimum inning requirement for starting pitchers would be a great idea to help solve that problem.
“I don’t think the specific stroke requirements even with exceptions are applicable to our rule,” Manfred said. “It’s just a very blunt instrument to fix this problem. I see both problems as really serious. I think the injury problem – our doctors have looked at this carefully. They still think the focus on speed and spin rate is an important reason.” An increase in infections.
“Look, when marketing the game, just think about broadcast. The name and face you see the most is the starting pitcher. Rivalries between great pitchers have historically been important in terms of marketing the game and I think we need to get back to that.”

Manfred said the rules should be developed to create incentives for teams that develop pitchers who can go deep in games.
“To me, this needs to be addressed in a more nuanced way. I think the rules surrounding transactions, the number of times pitchers can go in and out of the roster. One of the things that happened today, is a guy pitches for three days in a row, he gets ejected, And they brought someone else in. They gave him some rest instead of having him stay on the roster all the time.
“I think we need to create incentives through things like roster rules, transactional rules for clubs to develop pitchers who go deep into the game. I don’t think it can be prescriptive, you have to go six innings. I think it needs to be a series of rules that create An incentive for clubs to develop shooters of a certain type.”
