In an astonishing series of events, a groom named Mehtab abandons his wedding due to delayed food service, leaving the bride and her family in shock. The incident occurred during a wedding arranged seven months ago, which began on December 22 with traditional ceremonies.

According to reports, the bride’s family welcomed the groom’s party with sweets and prepared a sumptuous dinner. However, tensions erupted when a member of the groom accused the hosts of delaying serving the roti, according to the Economic Times. Attempts to defuse the situation failed, leading to the groom leaving angrily. Soon after, Mehtab reportedly married one of his relatives, further humiliating the bride.

The bride then filed a complaint with the Al-Najjar Industrial Police Station, expressing her dissatisfaction with the incident. After facing inaction from local authorities, her family escalated the matter to the district police chief on December 24.

The bride’s family claims that they suffered a financial loss of Rs 7 lakh, including Rs 1.5 lakh paid as dowry to the groom’s family. The bride has asked the SP to initiate an FIR against five members of the groom’s party, seeking legal recourse for their grievances.

Frustrated by police inaction, Raju, the bride’s brother, criticized local law enforcement, citing their failure to respond effectively despite the service provider’s reassurances. He expressed his disappointment, especially in light of the initiatives promised by Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath to set up women’s help desks in police stations with the aim of improving grievance redressal.
