The Palestinian militants group Hamas says it supports the new ceasefire plan for Gaza, which will witness another five hostages that were issued to Israel for a 50 -day truce.

Khalil Al -Hayyam, the largest leader of Hamas outside Gaza, said that the group had agreed to the draft of the deal that the Egyptian brokers and Qataris sent.

If it is agreed, the new ceasefire agreement can coincide with the Islamic Eid Al -Fitr holiday.

The discussions come with the continued Israeli forces in the air strikes across Gaza and a ground operation in Rafah after the ceasefire was agreed upon in January earlier this month.

During the first stage of that deal, Hamas released 33 hostages. The group is believed to hold 59, although not all of them are said to be alive.

Hamas had previously insisted on adhering to the original deal – with negotiations to start the second stage that will witness the launch of all the remaining hostages, in exchange for the complete withdrawal of the Israeli forces in Gaza and the end of the war. But those negotiations have never started.

Instead, Israel and the United States suggested that the first stage of the ceasefire – which has expired a month ago – must be extended, without any clear guarantee that the war will end.

Israel accused Hamas of refusing to extend and resumed its military attack in Gaza on March 18.

Netanyahu’s office said that the Israeli anti -cease -fire plan has been agreed with the United States, but it has not provided any details yet.

All this comes at a time when the Israeli forces continued in Jaza raids – and a ground operation in the southern city of Rafiha, which the Israeli Defense Forces (IDF) says aimed at expanding the security zone in southern Gaza.

Meanwhile, the demonstrators in Israel accused Netanyahu and his government of putting the lives of the remaining hostages in danger by breaking the ceasefire.

One of these hostages, Elkana Bohbot, was once again shown in an ordeal in a new video posted by Hamas where he pleads with his release.

The war was operated when Hamas attacked southern Israel on October 7, 2023, killing about 1,200 people and taking 251 to Gaza as prisoners.

Israel responded to a huge military attack, killing more than 50,000 Palestinians.
