‘Speaking in Hindi…’: Pune techie’s viral post reveals why he left Infosys without another job

A Pune-based technology professional has gone viral after he shared a detailed post on why he left his job at Infosys without getting another offer, despite being the sole breadwinner for his family.

In his post, Bhupendra Vishwakarma explained the systemic issues in the workplace, including stagnant financial growth, unfair distribution of workloads, and regional biases, that led him to make this difficult decision.

“The promotion from system engineer to senior system engineer looked great on paper, but there was no financial raise that came with it,” he wrote. For three years, he claims he worked hard and achieved consistent results, but his efforts were not recognized financially.

He also highlighted how attrition in his team led to an unfair redistribution of the workload. As the team shrank from 50 to 30, the remaining employees were burdened with additional responsibilities without compensation or support. “The management simply dumped the work on us instead of hiring replacements,” he said.

Job stagnation was another factor. He pointed out that his appointment to a loss-making account limits salary increases and job opportunities, leaving him without any prospects for professional growth. “It felt like a professional slump, with no light at the end of the tunnel,” he wrote.

Adding to his frustration was what he described as a toxic client environment. Unrealistic expectations and constant escalation created a high-pressure work culture that left little room for personal well-being.

The technical expert also claimed there was a regional bias in opportunities on site, claiming roles were often awarded on the basis of language preferences rather than merit. “Telugu, Tamil and Malayalam speaking employees were given priority, while Hindi speaking employees like me were ignored, regardless of our performance,” he claimed.

Despite his constant efforts and appreciation from his peers and seniors, he said it never translated into tangible rewards such as promotions or financial growth. Feeling undervalued and frustrated, he decided to leave.

“I cannot compromise my self-respect and mental health to an organization that ignores fundamental issues in the workplace,” he concluded, adding that such systemic issues push many employees to seek better opportunities elsewhere.
