“Sonic the Hedgehog 3” surpassed “Mufasa: The Lion King” to take first place at the weekend box office, according to movie studio estimates Sunday.

Paramount Picture’s “Sonic the Hedgehog” sequel finished its first weekend with $62 million in ticket sales, while “The
