Kirk Franklin addresses the backlash over Jamaica’s performance
Kirk Franklin addressed some of the controversy surrounding 2024 in a video he shared Instagram. The full clip is available on his YouTube. In the footage, Franklin apologized for his choices and talked about the most important moments of his year.
He also addressed the backlash he received from his performance at the “Fun in the Son” concert in Jamaica Christian post. In the clip, Franklin said he didn’t expect his outfit to offend anyone, given the hot weather, and didn’t think it would look “disrespectful,” but it did.
“I’ve spent most of my career dancing and moving and jumping on stage, and I didn’t know that I would do anything that would offend anyone in any community, but it happened. And because it did, I sincerely apologize,” Franklin said.
The “I Smile” musician continued to apologize, and said sincerely that he will always remain humble and open to hearing people and their concerns.
“I sincerely apologize because I never want to get to a place where I can’t learn, I can’t learn what I need to do better, what I can do differently to make sure that as I grow as a man, grow physically or in any aspect, I’m always humble.” Enough and submissive enough to listen to people and their concerns about anything bigger than the message of Jesus.
