Departure at 12:00 noon

Celtic return to the Scottish Premier League after winning the League Cup, a first for Brendan Rodgers, who has never faced Dundee United.

If the Hoops continue their unbeaten run, they will make it their best ever start to a league season – and a win would also secure their best away run of 12 wins on the road in 2017.

Jim Goodwin’s side have impressed in their return to the Premier League, and if they can pull off a shock win over the Scottish champions for the first time since 2014, they could move up to fourth place.

Will Rangers recover from the final disappointment?

Philip Clement’s side will be determined to secure a vital Premier League win after their League Cup defeat to Celtic, with their disappointment compounded by… Confession should have been their punishment.

Depending on the Aberdeen result, a win over Dundee could lift Rangers up to second in the table ahead of a busy festive schedule.

Tony Docherty’s side have only one away win in the league this season and have not won at Ibrox since 2001.

A mistake plagued the Dundee squad earlier this week but the manager is hopeful that most of his players will be available for Saturday’s game.

After their strong start to the season, Aberdeen are winless in their last five Premier League matches and could lose their place in second place if that does not change on Saturday.

While the Dons have struggled of late, it was Hibs’ dramatic comeback in a 3-3 draw with Jamie Thelen’s side that appears to have kicked off their season.

They secured victory either side of defeat to Celtic and climbed out of the relegation danger zone.

Aberdeen have won just once in their last seven league meetings with Hibis, a 4-0 away win in May last season.

What else to look for?

Can Hearts move away from the bottom of the Premier League?

There is a battle at the bottom of the table at Tynecastle as Hearts return from Conference League play to face St Johnstone.

A victory for Neil Critchley’s side would lift them off the bottom of the table and send their opponents down from them.

Motherwell will be looking to make it a third successive win when they host Kilmarnock on Fright Night.
