Santa abseils from the Guatemala Bridge to deliver toys

A firefighter dressed as Santa Claus descended from a bridge in Guatemala City to deliver gifts to children.

Municipal firefighter Hector Chacon wore a red robe and beard and, with the help of his colleagues, descended 70 meters to greet dozens of children waiting for him below.

Chacon, 78, has been doing this task for 27 years, and says that the goal of this trick is to spread festive joy among children from low-income families.

“I think all kids deserve to have a toy this time of year,” he said.
