Paul Wales, Saint Helen coach, admitted “basic errors”, which could have been a Derby statement his victory over local competitors, Wigan Warriors, where they fell in a defeat of 24-14 at the stadium of the building.

“They are two good defensive aspects, but when you give teams like WiGan more field center than you want to display, like Bevan (French) comes with a kicking play to Jai (Field) and Jai trying to only try a real defensive system.

“There is a lot that you like about our performance, but we cannot continue to hold the same conversations about how we are not fully profitable for big games by sometimes lacking focus.

“What we should be just a little more patient, and a little more difficult, and not making these mistakes early in the game. This may come a little closer to us, but I was really proud of the way we finished the game.

“I will be honest with you when we got this last attempt, I felt as if we were in a good opportunity to continue and win the game, but it was not.”

A big victory will come and we will be able to say that we deserve it!

This is not the first time that Saint Helen has suffered at the hands of the big sides in the Premier League, and their discipline was an issue, as Wales himself was citing their recent loss against Warrington as examples of “basic mistakes” that killed the saints.

Now, St. Helen’s wants to fix simple things, so that, as they think they will do, they can be good and can say they deserve victory in the big game.

“This is my love and this is the frustration of the team because a couple of Warrington games recently and it is clear that these games today can only continue to hold similar talks,” Wales added.

“We do everything in terms of our efforts and try to win the matches, but not only the tanning of some important runs.

“If we want to take this next step, which I am sure we will do that, I do not doubt that for one second. But the responsibility is to make sure that we are making these small parts in our game because there is a lot of what we do in what we do at the present time.

“I have moved away from today, Wigan has been a standard team over the past few years, but I don’t get out of it, believing that they are much superior to what we are. They are very good aspects that can be difficult.
