Manchester United recorded a crazy 2-1 win over Manchester City on Sunday, but one of the biggest talking points in the derby was Marcus Rashford’s absence.
The winner was left out of United’s squad by new manager Ruben Amorim with the Portuguese coach stating before the match that the 27-year-old was left out due to several factors such as training standards and the way he interacts with his teammates.
Roy Keane believes it is time for Rashford to leave Old Trafford is looking for a ‘new challenge’. Alejandro Garnacho joins the Englishman in leaving him at home, which is not a good sign for both players now that a new coach has arrived at the Premier League giants.
Amorim said there was a way back for Rashford and Garnacho The new week provides the duo with an opportunity to show what the former Sporting CP boss is all about.
The Manchester United academy graduate has been performing below par for some time now as the winger has failed to replicate the numbers he produced during the 2022/23 campaign.
Rashford appears to be hoping he can change his attitude with his reaction to United’s win at the Etihad Stadium on Sunday.

Following Manchester United’s dramatic late turnaround against Manchester City, Rashford shared a clip from the match on his TV on Instagram. In the caption, the winger wrote across talkSPORT: “Yesssssssssss! I love it, guys.
The Englishman was keen to show support for his teammates, suggesting he wants to remain part of Amorim’s plans.
The player’s brother and agent, 27-year-old Dwayne Maynard, also gave his reaction in the comments section. “As you say, all you want is United to win. No matter what,” Maynard said.
Rashford appears to have taken Amorim’s decision well and Manchester FC fans are hoping that this decision will provide him with the incentive to change his situation at Old Trafford. The Portuguese coach may also be impressed with the way the player has dealt in the past two days.
