India captain Rohit Sharma came out to bat in the third Test match of the Border-Gavaskar Trophy under a lot of pressure. Rohit has been in poor form recently and needs to score runs badly to regain some confidence.
Under such pressure, Rohit was lucky not to be dismissed after a huge foul on his batting partner KL Rahul. During the 16th over of India’s innings, KL Rahul poked the ball to the right of mid-on and immediately called for a single.
Rohit was a little late in the start which led to a terrible mix-up between the batsmen. Both batsmen were even stranded at mid-off at one point but Australian captain Pat Cummins miscued the ball at mid-off for an easy goal.
After the confusion, Rohit Sharma was not happy with KL Rahul and immediately scolded him by saying, “KL Jaane de udhar se (KL, let the ball go from there)”.

KL Rahul also responded to Rohit Sharma as their conversation was recorded on microphone. “Pehle hi bolto mai piche chala jaunga (You can tell me and I won’t run),” Rahul said.
Rohit then responded by saying: “Wo kitna aage hai samajh nahi aa raha isliye (It is difficult to understand where he stands).” Rohit said this while referring to Pat Cummins, who was stationed at Medwicket.

It could have been a disaster for India but both fighters were safe in the end. Running out of fuel was the last thing India wanted at this stage. The Australian players put their hands on their heads as they bemoaned the missed opportunity that could have brought India to the mat.
India defeats Australia in the morning session
At the same time, it was an overall disappointing day with rain coming in patches and constantly spoiling the events. In the morning session, India dismissed Australia for 445 in the first innings. Jasprit Bumrah finished with 6-76 but did not get support from the other end.
In reply, India started poorly and lost Yashasvi Jaiswal on only the second ball of the innings by Mitchell Starc. Starc then removed Shubman Gill in his next stint to rock India further.
India’s middle order is failing again
Virat Kohli played a few balls but was dismissed for another low score. It was a similar style to Kohli’s dismissal as Hazlewood bowled the ball in the fourth off stump to make it trailing for just 3.
The carnage did not stop here as Pat Cummins dismissed Rishabh Pant for just 9 runs. Pant’s wicket was a major setback for India who were looking for a good partnership.
The Men in Blue were 51-4 at stumps on day four with KL Rahul and Rohit Sharma remaining at the crease. Rahul is unbeaten on 33 while Rohit is yet to open his account.
