“Contrary to hysterical media reports that the petition sought to ensure that polio vaccines were not available, the scope of the petition was very narrow,” Aaron Siri, a close advisor to RFK Jr. and a partner at Siri & Glimstad LLP, told Fox News. digital. “I have simply asked the FDA to require an appropriate trial to license a new polio vaccine for children.”

New York Times reported Friday Siri “wages a war” against all vaccines, but Siri said the report “falsely claimed that the petition seeks to eliminate the ‘polio vaccine,’ as if there is only one vaccine, and that our client sought to leave Americans without the option of getting vaccinated against… polio.”

“In fact, the petition sought to ensure the safety of one of the six existing licensed polio vaccines that we inject our children three times before their first birthday,” he added.

The report came just days before RFK Jr. headed to… Capitol Hill This week to meet with senators, to get support for his confirmation by the Department of Health and Human Services.

The petition, filed in 2022 on behalf of the Informed Consent Action Network (ICAN) and not as an individual action by Siri, urged the FDA to suspend the IPOL polio vaccine for infants and children. ICAN’s request stems from concerns that IPOL, licensed in 1990 by Sanofi, was approved based on trials in children, according to Food and Drug AdministrationSafety was evaluated for only three days after injection.

Siri added that this is not the traditional polio vaccine developed by Jonas Salk or Albert Sabin that many people are familiar with. Instead, it is a product that uses a different technology, where the polio virus is grown on monkey kidney cells that have been genetically modified to reproduce indefinitely, similar to cancer cells. Traces of these cells are found in every vaccine dose.

Another petition filed on behalf of ICAN in 2021 addresses 13 childhood vaccines that contain aluminum adjuvants. According to the petition, a peer-reviewed study found discrepancies between aluminum levels in these vaccines and the amounts listed on their FDA-approved labels. The petition calls on the FDA to verify and publicly release documents proving the accuracy of the aluminum content or halt distribution until it is resolved — an issue that critics say should not be so controversial for products injected into infants.

“Currently, the political classification (pro-vaccine, anti-vaccine) is insufficient to encompass the realities of medical ethics, regulatory control, and the influence of corporate money on health policy,” Siri said. “We must be able to raise valid questions about vaccine safety, effectiveness and policies without fear that any deviation from the ‘safe and effective’ mantra will be smeared with name calling and anger.”

Katie Miller, President Kennedy’s transition spokeswoman, said in response: “Mr. Kennedy believes that the polio vaccine should be available to the public and studied thoroughly and properly.”

Meanwhile, Trump said that “everything has to be considered,” adding that he is a “big believer in the polio vaccine,” during a press conference at Mar-a-Lago on Monday morning.
