Chris Boyd has given a harsh assessment of Philip Clement’s future prospects as Rangers manager, saying change is needed after the club fell further behind Celtic in the Scottish Premiership.
Rangers’ miserable performance away from home continued on Thursday with a 1-1 draw against Dundee, which left them 15 points behind their rivals at the top of the table.

The result provided further ammunition for those who believe Clement’s time at Ibrox should come to an end, with the away club’s fans showing their displeasure after the final whistle.
“It’s just excuse after excuse,” former Rangers striker Boyd said. Sky Sports. “Rangers have a team that should come here and wipe the floor with Dundee but they are hanging on.
“Thirteen points out of 33 away from home is shameful. You can talk about progress but there’s nothing. You’re talking about players being tired and having low confidence. You absolutely destroyed Celtic a week ago or 10 days ago – you destroyed them.
“And you struggle for confidence. You lose two games and you draw and you lose a game before the Celtic game. There was no confidence struggle in the Celtic game.

“Now then, I’ve drawn two games again and there’s a lack of confidence in them. It doesn’t make sense.
“I just look at the club now and on the pitch, it’s broken. There are no patterns of play, there is nothing. You always point to the Celtic game as Rangers’ best performance of the season.
He added: “But it can’t just be a one-off, we know that. It’s a huge shame that Rangers are in this position.”
