A woman in Pune took a bold stand against harassment on a bus on Thursday, slapping a man at least 26 times after he touched her inappropriately.
The man, who was drunk, ignored the woman’s repeated warnings and continued to harass her. The woman refused to back down, so she grabbed him by the collar and began slapping him repeatedly, shocking onlookers with her bravery.
The victim, Priya Laskhare, a sports teacher from Shirdi, was traveling with her husband and child when the accident occurred. Later, Priya dragged the accused to a police station near Shaniwarwada, to ensure that he was held accountable for his actions.
The video shows the man holding his hands together in an apology gesture, and his face clearly expresses remorse. However, undeterred by his remorse, Lashkari maintained a firm grip on his collar with one hand and continued to deliver more than 26 slaps. Moments later, the bus conductor intervened to help Lashkari, striking the drunken man several times as well.
After some time, the man was taken to a nearby police station. However, there were no officers present when they arrived, and police reportedly arrived at the station about 30 minutes later. The case was eventually settled without filing a formal complaint, as the man’s wife apologized to Shukri and begged her not to proceed with the matter.
