The French Interior Minister said on Friday that Algeria is trying to humiliate France, after a number of influential Algerian figures were arrested on charges of inciting violence in a growing crisis between Paris and its former colony. Four influential figures supporting the Algerian authorities have been arrested in recent days over videos suspected of calling for violence in France. Meanwhile, Algeria is detaining French-Algerian novelist Boualem Sansal on national security charges.
