Pakistan prevents airspace: flying from India to the United States, it is likely to cost Europe more, takes longer

India’s suspension of the Andoswater Treaty has escalated tensions with Pakistan, prompting Islamabad to close the airspace to Indian trips.

BT airlines told that this closure will significantly affect flights, tracks and services costs from India to Europe, North America and the Middle East.

“Airways and periods of periods to Europe and the United States from India will increase due to the closure of the Pakistani airspace. We are currently exploring alternative roads. Main centers such as Delhi and Mumbai will witness major disturbances in the outgoing flights and their mystery, most likely that some flights to the Middle East have also been affected.

Indigo and Air India have already alerted passengers to possible disturbances, saying through the posts on X that some international flights will face changes due to taking a “extended alternative road”.

Akasa Air, who is closely monitoring the situation, said she decided in a pre -emptive reformulation of flights that usually transport Pakistani airspace. “We do not expect any significant impact on our operations and will not cause any inconvenience to our passengers,” the airline said.

Indigo stressed that “some of our international flights are affected” and provide passengers with flexible reservation options or recovered sums.

Air India has noticed that many flights to North America, the United Kingdom, Europe and the Middle East will take longer.

Industry sources highlight that the longest flights mean increasing fuel consumption and high operational costs, which may lead airlines to raise prices in the coming days.

What happened in 2019?

During the closure of the 2019 airspace, combined airlines lost about 700 rupees, with passengers facing the fare from 8 % to 40 %.

The flights that are currently starting from the main centers such as Delhi and Mumbai are expected to be particularly affected, with extended roads or Maharashtra before heading to the west, adding inconvenience to travelers and operational pressure of tankers.
