NORNE Thorning Storage, a new energy company, was granted a license to explore the Toring Temple by the Danish Minister of Climate, Energy and Utilities.
The company will soon start the exploration work program to assess the appropriateness of the structure for the safe and lasting CO₂ storage, which may enable storage before 2030.
NORNE will run Thoring Exploration in partnership with NordsFonden, which represents the Danish state.
If the data confirmed how appropriate the structure is, NORNE and Nordsceden will receive the exclusive right to apply for a CO₂ storage license, pending the approval of the Danish Energy Agency (DeA).
Environmental permits and safety requirements must be fulfilled before creating any storage facility.
“The exploration work program is carefully designed to provide a comprehensive understanding of deep geological structures and its ability to store CO₂ safely and lasting.
“Ross, the exclusive partner of Nurnen theft and pain and their long experience with the soil in Denmark, has been a key role in planning the work program, which includes large -scale air polls of seismic sensors with minimal environmental impacts, 3D seismic surveys, exploring and evaluating them.”
The Thorning Exploration Award is an important teacher for Norne, which was sponsored by Fidelis New Energy since 2021 and has been appointed as a European Union project with a common concern by the European Commission in 2023.
This development is in line with the goals of carbon removal for both Denmark and the European Union, providing industries a solution to reduce CO₂ emissions.
CO₂ geological storage and perhaps developing it is very important to the targets of carbon reduction in Denmark for the year 2030 and beyond.
Nureen’s discussions with the Danish industry players and the European Union led to a concept that reduces costs and environmental impact through the use of facilities for both Danish and European Union motives.
The company facilitates multiple CO₂ connection patterns to Thoring, with a reception station in the Aalborg port that enables the CO₂ reception from Danish, Balt and European gates.
