The holidays are great for revisiting classic holiday movies, but you don’t need to limit yourself to options from Christmases past. Streaming services We load the sleigh with hilarious movies about human-snowman romances, Santa Claus rescue missions and letters to the North Pole that go terribly wrong.

With Jack Black, Danny DeVito, Dwayne Johnson, Lindsay Lohan and other big names starring in the holiday shows, there are enough stars to top a large number of Christmas trees. If you’re planning to spend some time in front of the TV this season, check out this list of 2024 Christmas movies you can stream now (or very soon).

New streaming Christmas movies of 2024

Amazon MGM Studios

Red One has been in theaters for a little while, but the action-packed holiday show is about to make its debut on the streaming service. The film stars Dwayne Johnson and Chris Evans, is rated PG-13, and includes a global mission to save Santa Claus. You can listen to the film on Prime Video to see if these two movie stars can pull off the task.

The Exes on less-than-fun terms are brought together by Christmas a decade later in this Netflix movie. Lindsay Lohan and Ian Harding play two exes who reunite when their partners – who are siblings – host them for a holiday gathering. Will they be able to keep their history a secret? You’ll have to listen to find out.

This festive film stars Ben Stiller as a big-city resident whose life takes a different turn. He leaves Chicago to temporarily care for his four orphaned nephews on a country farm, and child-fueled chaos ensues. The real-life siblings play the quartet of boys, and Linda Cardellini plays the social worker.

Sam Lothridge/Netflix

It’s Taron Egerton vs. Jason Bateman is in this upcoming airport thriller from Netflix with enough holiday energy to put it on this list. The confrontation occurs when Batman’s mysterious figure urges Edgerton’s TSA agent to let the suitcase pass through security and onto a flight on Christmas Eve. If you’re ready for a different kind of vacation movie, make room in your bag for this one.

Netflix

A holiday release from Netflix that no one expected — but that makes perfect sense — Hot Frosty stars Lacey Chabert as a small-town woman who meets a grown-up with snowman roots. The comedy outing also stars Craig Robinson from The Office and Joe Lo Truglio from Brooklyn Nine-Nine – a mayor and his deputy tracking down a line who may or may not be the hottest newcomer in society (and also the coolest, artistically speaking).

Adam Rose/Netflix

Magic Mike – A crowd-puller, The Merry Gentlemen focuses on a dancer in a big city to save her parents’ struggling business. Strategy? An all-male revue led by the chiseled handyman of Chad Michael Murray. And all of this has to be done by Christmas, of course.

Disney

Do you want to spend Christmas with an adorable little owl? This animated short on Disney Plus follows the journey of a little bird named Moon, who ends up alone in Rockefeller Plaza during the holidays and befriends a little girl who is also far from home. The voice cast includes Jim Gaffigan, Mamoudou Athie, Natasha Lyonne, and John C. Reilly.

Netflix

Succession’s Brian Cox, who voices Santa Claus, is one of the influences for writer-director Richard Curtis’ PG-rated animated film Love Actually. Based on three children’s books by Curtis, who co-wrote “This Christmas,” the film includes multiple tales in a holiday package.

Pop band Pentatonix and Christina Milian appear in this holiday rom-com Which brings festive melodies and chemistry. Milian’s character searches for tickets to a sold-out Pentatonix concert in New York City after a meet-cute at the airport with a stranger a year ago. But the decision to hire a janitor sparks a second, unexpected love interest.

Paramount Plus’s first original Christmas movie, Dear Santa, features a star-studded cast and an envelope-pushing setting: What if a little boy accidentally sent a message to the devil instead of the man with the bag? Jack Black stars as the kid’s new demon sidekick, and Keegan-Michael Key and Post Malone appear in this unconventional, critically acclaimed holiday film.

Lupus movies

Gerard Butler’s Saint Nick meets the Christmas-hating Queen of Hearts (Emilia Clarke) in this animated musical based on the book of the same name by Carys Bexington. This is a holiday pic that can entertain children.

Notorious pictures

Danny DeVito and Andie MacDowell star in an upcoming Hulu show set in the Dolomites, Italy. In the hilarious comedy, a family celebrates Christmas at an unusual time of the year as a 10-year-old girl tries to prevent her parents from separating.

Hallmark Media

When it comes to new holiday movies, Hallmark has the winter goods. If you don’t have cable, you can use Peacock to watch your Christmas countdown lineup — but you’ll need to stay tuned On top of the schedule. The streaming device delivers movies live as they air on the Hallmark Channel on the East Coast or next day on demand. Just note that if you go the on-demand route, the promotion period is limited to three days.
