Myanmar’s earthquake’s death jumped to more than 1,600 with research efforts continued

The number of deaths from A strong earthquake 7.7 volume in Myanmar Thailand jumped to more than 1,600 on Saturday, and is expected to rise as research efforts are increased.

The country’s leading government in the country said in a statement on Saturday that 1644 dead people were found, while the number of injured people jumped to 3408 with at least 139 missing. At least 10 people were killed in neighboring Bangkok.

“With more than 18 million people living in the affected earthquake area, they expect the death toll will increase.

“Search and rescue are still continuing,” she said. “It is very difficult now to check the health of any character, and we know that it will continue to increase and (that) many of these 18 million people are now without safe shelter, access to clean water, and reliable health care.”

Myanmar, also known as Burma, is in the labor of a long and bloody civil war, and is already responsible for a huge humanitarian crisis. It makes the movement throughout the country difficult and dangerous, making relief efforts and raising fears that the death toll still can rise.

In the middle of the day on Friday, the earthquake with a marina center is not far from Mandalay, followed by many wireless tremors, including a 6.4 size. The buildings were sent in many areas that fall on the ground, the roads that bind, causing bridges to collapse and exploded.

In the capital Naybyidaw, sets on Saturday worked to repair damaged roads, while electricity, phone and Internet services remained in most of the city. The government said that more than 1590 homes were damaged in the Mandalay area, the earthquake center.

Destruction in Thailand

In neighboring Thailand, the earthquake shook the Greater Bangkok region, habitat of about 17 million people and other parts of the country.

The Bangkok city authorities said that six people have been found so far, 26 injuries, and 47 are still missing, most of them are from the construction site near the famous Chatuckak market in the capital.

On Saturday, more heavy equipment was brought to move tons of rubble, but hope was fading between friends and family members in the missing people who will be found alive.

“I was praying because they had survived, but when I got here and saw the ruin-where could they be? At what angle? Are they still alive? I still pray because the six are alive.”

“I can’t accept this. When I see this, I cannot accept this. I am an intimate friend there too,” she said.

Waenphet Panta said she had not heard from her daughter Kanlaynee since a phone call about an hour before the earthquake. Her friend Kanlaynee told that he was working in the building on Friday.

“I pray my daughter safe, and she survived and that she is in the hospital,” said Kanliani’s father sitting next to him.

The Thai authorities said that the earthquake and subsequent tremors felt in most of the country’s provinces. Many places in the north have reported damage to residential buildings, hospitals and temples, including in Xiang May, but the only losses were reported in Bangkok

International aid arrives when the rescuers are asked

After more than 24 hours of desperate search, many tired rescue workers ask for some rest.
“We have been here since last night. We haven’t slept. More help here,” the rescue worker told AFP. “We have enough workforce but we don’t have enough cars. We transport the dead bodies with light trucks. About 10-20 bodies in one light truck.”

In a country, the previous governments were sometimes slow to accept external aid, Main Ong Hinging said Myanmar is ready to accept external aid.

China and Russia, the largest arms suppliers to the Myanmar army, were among the first to take with humanitarian aid.

China said it had sent more than 135 rescue personnel and experts as well as supplies such as medical groups and generators and pledged about $ 13.8 million of humanitarian aid. The Russian Emergency Ministry said it flew in 120 rescue and supplies.

India also sent a search and rescue team and a medical team, while Malaysia said it would send 50 people on Sunday.

South Korea said it would save $ 2 million of humanitarian aid through international organizations, and the United Nations allocating $ 5 million to start relief efforts.

President Trump said on Friday that the United States will help in responding.

Mr. Trump told correspondents at the Oval Office that he had already spoken to the country’s officials and “he is a real bad, and we will help.”

However, some experts were concerned about this effort given the deep discounts of his administration in external aid.

A natural disaster on the top of the civil war

The Military in Myanmar seized power from the elected government in Aung San Suu Ki in February 2021, and is now participating in a bloody civil war with firm militias and its forms of newly formed democracy.

The military forces continued their attacks even after the earthquake, with three air strikes in the northern state of Cayenne, also called the state of Karenini, and South Chan – both of them from Mandalay’s border state.
