Sometimes, you don’t want the phone for the frills. You want him to make a call and get through a stressful day. Enter the Motorola Moto G line of budget devices, a major contributor to the company’s financial gains. Cheap, high-quality phones are all anyone could ask for. the Moto G and Moto G Power Updated with new processors and bright colors, the Moto G Power also advertises exceptional water resistance starting at $300.

The Moto G Power is the more tempting of the two budget phones, so we’ll start there. The Moto G Power has an IP69 rating, the same rating as the newly launched flagship phone OnePlus 13which was a big deal in terms of being able to withstand a shower in the dishwasher. Like the $900 OnePlus phone, the Moto G Power can handle deep water immersion, high-pressure water jets, and hotter water temperatures than most IP68-rated phones. It’s also fully protected from dust getting into the edges, which is good considering Motorola has kept the headphone jack on it.

This makes the Moto G Power one of the most powerful smartphones you can get at this price. It’s not that thick, although you do have to make do with the large 6.8-inch LCD screen, which may make the device too large for most users. At least the size means there’s enough battery inside. The 5,000 mAh battery should last a long time on the Moto G Power, since it’s not a power sucker either. When the phone is ready to recharge, you can do so using a 30W power brick or a 15W wireless charger.

The Moto G Power’s specs won’t outperform the latest Pixel A series, but that’s how you’ll get huge battery life out of this thing. There’s a MediaTek Dimensity 6300 CPU, which has a slightly higher clock speed than last season’s Moto G Power, along with 8GB of RAM. The phone has 128GB of storage and is accompanied by a microSD expansion slot – another rare feature available in Android Land.

For those with smaller devices – but not many – the Moto G is a 6.7-inch device with the same chipset but with 4GB of RAM. It’s one of the cheapest Motorola phones you can buy and has all the basics. The upside is that it’s equipped with the same 5,000mAh battery pack, making it a long-lasting phone for $200. But do not drop it into water; Only the Moto G has a “water repellent” design with an IP52 rating.

Both phones will be available for purchase at the end of the month.
