More than one company brought a robotic vacuum with a mechanical arm to CES 2025

It turns out that Roborock isn’t the only company bringing a robotic vacuum with a mechanical arm to CES 2025. Rival company Dreame, which unveiled a vacuum that has a mechanical arm. Climbing stairs Also working earlier in the week is a robotic vacuum with an arm to pick things up.

The device is still a prototype, according to the company, but the as-yet-unnamed robovac was on full display at Dreame’s CES booth. Considering that it was still a prototype, the actual arm seemed much more significant compared to the arm on it Roborock Saros Z70. It was thicker and had a larger “claw” that looked like it might be able to pick up slightly heavier objects. (Roborock says its slow device can pick up an object weighing up to 300 grams.)

Unfortunately, Dreame didn’t appear to actually be holding anything, but I was able to watch the arm extend and retract a few times. It appears to be on a similar device to the X50 as the typical vacuum also swings on ‘legs’, much like Dreame’s

A Dreame representative at the booth told me that the company had been working on the prototype for a while, but decided to accelerate its plans for the vacuum at CES. After a quick glance up, I knew exactly what he was referring to: Dreame’s booth was positioned directly across from Roborock, which was displaying a massive replica of the Saros Z70 wielding its arm above its booth.

Maybe next year we’ll see robotic arm wrestling.
