Mikel Arteta has confirmed that Kai Havertz should be fit enough to return to Arsenal’s squad for Saturday’s clash with Brighton & Hove Albion.

Havertz was ruled out of the win over Brentford on New Year’s Day after suffering an illness, dealing another blow to Arsenal’s already depleted attacking line.

Fortunately for Arteta, it appears as if the glitch has worked through Arsenal band without hitting anyone else.

“I think so,” Arteta said of Havertz’s participation on Saturday. “I think the people who have the disease will be fine. They will be training, and if everyone is fine they should be available.”

Furthermore, Arteta is excited to welcome back winger Raheem Sterling from the knee injury he suffered around the same time as Bukayo Saka went down with a hamstring problem.

Arteta continued: “He is starting to do some things on the field, so this is great news.” “We want him available as soon as possible. Let’s see how next week develops and then see if we can make him available for the following week.”

Defender Ben White is still “a few weeks away” from returning, while Arteta will also manage midfielder Declan Rice’s minutes as he continues to suffer from a minor muscle ailment.

“In his case, he has played a lot of football,” the Arsenal coach said. “We have nine games this month and he had some problems in the last few games, so he had to come off. We have to manage every player and he is no exception.”
