Michelle Obama spoke against rumors that her marriage to Barack Obama may be in trouble.
The former first lady did not accompany her husband to many prominent events-including the inauguration of Donald Trump and the funeral of former President Jimmy Carter-which leads to strengthening speculation that it may be separated.
Without mentioning these occasions explicitly, Mrs. Obama told the constant work of the podcast that the actress Sofia Bush hosted that she is now in a position that allows her to control her own calendar as “a woman who has grown.”
She said that people were unable to believe that she was “making a decision” by herself, and instead, “they had to assume that my husband was going.”
Mrs. Obama shared that she felt some guilt to back down from certain duties.
“This is the thing that we are women, I think we are facing like disappointing people,” she said.
“I mean, to the extent that people could not understand this year to the extent that I had chosen myself to the point that they had to assume that my husband was inclined.
“This could not be a growing woman who makes a set of decisions for herself, right? But this is what society does for us.”
“I chose to do what was better for me,” Mrs. Obama also said in the podcast.
Her absence from President Trump’s inauguration was seen as a break from tradition.
Despite the more time points for herself, the former first lady said that she still finds time “to deliver speeches, to be there in the world, to work on projects. I am still interested in teaching girls.”
Obamas celebrated the thirty -second anniversary last year in October.
Mrs. Obama was previously open to the conflicts she faced in her marriage due to Mr. Obama’s political ambitions and time in the White House in her best -selling notes, and she became.
