It appears that Meta is preparing to add screens to its popular line of Ray-Ban smart glasses. . These displays could appear in a future version of the device as early as next year. The likely release window is the second half of 2025.
According to people familiar with the Meta’s plans, the screens will be on the smaller side and will likely be used to display notifications or responses from the Meta’s virtual assistant AI. It is highly unlikely that the company is planning to make this device full-fledged mixed reality just yet.
So, Meta has it which is still several years out. The same report notes that the positive response to the Orion glasses likely accelerated the development process and possibly secured a commercial release. It has not been confirmed whether these glasses will remain an internal prototype.
Ray-Ban smart glasses have been a surprise hit for Meta. . They look great and perform impressively. The current model includes in-ear speakers, cameras, microphones, and access to the Meta virtual assistant.
I quite enjoy the simplicity of the current design, especially when taking photos and videos. I hope the displays don’t get in the way of this simplicity and it doesn’t come at the expense of camera system improvements, for example.
Ray-Ban Meta sunglasses are, after all, the perfect device for taking quick pet photos. Have you ever tried to force an animal to stay still so you can take your phone out of the bag to take a photo? Those damn cuties never do that. Ray-Ban solves this problem.
