Meet the six-wheeled hybrid vehicle with an eVTOL electric motor in the trunk
Xpeng Aeroht brought its prototype flying car to CES. The six-wheeled “land aircraft carrier” can travel off-road carrying an eVTOL aircraft and charging it for flight at the same time.
This isn’t your giant six-wheeled hybrid if there is such a thing. This one has a surprise in the trunk Have you ever wished you could carry your own flying machine in the trunk of your car? This ground aircraft carrier from X-Pan Aero could be the solution. Because of their small size and how heavy EV batteries are, most of the personal EVs we see have very low charges and require some type of separate trailer. To take them to their starting point. That’s where this six-wheeled mothership comes in. Not only is it designed to transport a two-seat personal flying machine off-road to wherever you want to fly, it can also serve as a charger. So, when you arrive at your destination, your electric car’s battery is full and ready to fly. Expan Aero co-founder and vice president Wong Tan told me that the decision to make the mothership a hybrid vehicle was made to extend the range up to 1,000 kilometers or 621 miles. A full tank of gas and a full charge on the mothership can recharge the EV’s charges in the trunk up to 6 times. As far as safety goes. X-Man Aero says it’s a top priority. Redundancy is built into everything from the flight system to the controls. Below some propellers are ducted propellers, which can keep the aircraft stable in the event of a propeller problem. The joystick is the primary control mechanism, and a group of buttons next to it perform many of the same functions as the backup. We couldn’t sit inside the mothership this time, but Xant Aero let us into the electric vehicle toll unit, which has already conducted crewed test flights. As you can see, it’s very comfortable here. I’m about 5’11 in change, so. I don’t hit my head on the roof. I have enough room for my feet. Uh, it feels so good. If you’re a few inches taller than me, you might hit your head if you really stretch, and I could hit the ceiling, but this thing has to be compact because it has to fit in the trunk of your car. I personally have never seen anything like this. I would say the closest thing visually is the Cybertruck because of the light bar on the front and the overall shape and color. However, XPin Aero’s modular flying car serves a completely different purpose. In fact, I believe that form follows function. Why do we have this design, I don’t think it’s just for whom, I think it’s more about the capabilities of this vehicle, the added weight of this vehicle and the off-road ability. And secondly, we think about how to make it futuristic as we bring it from the future. Despite its sci-fi design, Xan Aero says this is not a typical car. They plan to mass produce it. They are working on regulatory approval in China, and already have more than 3,000 orders, and expect to start deliveries in 2026. The company says the modular flying car. It will be available first in China for under $300,000 with hopes of expanding to other markets in the future. What do you think of the X-Pan Aero Land Carrier? Let us know in the comments.
