Liverpool are searching for a new centre-back before 2025, and the Reds are reportedly considering signing Crystal Palace star Mark Guehi.

The defender is expected to leave Selhurst Park next summer after coming close to doing so ahead of the 2024/25 season.

Newcastle pushed hard to sign Guehi During the recent summer transfer window but we were not willing to match the high price demanded by Crystal Palace – and the Magpies’ final bid was reportedly worth it. £65m.

Arne Sloat’s current centre-back pairing is Virgil van Dijk and Ibrahim Konate, however, it remains uncertain whether the Dutch star will return next season as the Liverpool captain expires out of contract with the club at the end of the 2024/25 season.

The only way for Guehi to arrive at Anfield is for the Netherlands international to leave, otherwise the £65m would be better spent elsewhere, where the Merseyside club already have very good options at centre-back.
